[Lore/Event] Overdue

Event

Anders neatly stacked the day's letters. He rubbed at his tired eyes with one hand as he swiped the other across his desk, collecting stray bits of shredded paper together. His hand was sore from writing responses to the daily trivialities. Cows stolen, knights slighted, and bandits that seemed to never go away, despite how many times they'd been caught and hanged. It was an often thankless work, and the excitement that came with the letter to the crown weeks ago had quickly passed.

He tipped his hand, and the paper scraps drifted down into the waste bin. His thoughts wandered to the last conversations he had had with each brother. I sent my younger brother to the most dangerous place in the world. That angry son of a bitch is going to get himself killed. Anders grimaced and shook his head, lingering in the door frame before meandering down the hallway.

"Anders." Garrison's voice came as a surprise.

"Shouldn't you be guarding the Prince?" He smiled at his older brother, lightly embracing him as to avoid bruising himself on the golden armor of the Sunguard.

"I switched out. I've been looking for you." He moved to walk along side his younger brother. "Came to talk to you about Carson. And something else."

The look in Garrison's eye was one of worry, it was easy to tell. He had never been a good liar. "I know I shouldn't of sent him." Anders glowered in shame.

"No, he wanted to go. Even if you told him he couldn't, he still would have. You know that." He wrapped an arm around Anders' shoulder. "Don't beat yourself up about it. He'll be fine, you need to stop worrying about that, with all the other responsibilities you have now. And... about the other thing." He smiled, turning to face his brother. "You need to get married."

"Wha-"

"You know it's true. It's past time you did." Marriage had been on the backburner of his mind since he came to Sunspear.

"Who? I have to look inside Dorne now, with the way things are."

"Your last muse was a Martell. Perhaps the other side of the spectrum would do well by you." His brother didn't often grin, but this was one of those times. "Della Yronwood. Trust me." With that he clapped his younger brother on the shoulder and turned to walk in the opposite direction.

Anders stood and collected himself, mildly dazed. Marrying into the Yronwoods would likely garner him some dirty looks from the council, as he was likely the only man who liked Ormond. He scratched the back of his neck and laughed before heading back to his chambers.

To Lord Ormond Yronwood, Bloodroyal

My time away from home has taught me a number of things, the most important being to keep close to those we trust. The bond between the Dornish of the Red Mountains has always been strong, and I wish to renew that bond. I write to propose a betrothal to you, between Della Yronwood and myself. I have not forgotten your support of my endeavors since I first came into lordship, but with this you would gain a strong ally in my House. I look forward to your response.

Anders Blackmont, Lord of Blackmont and Justiciar of Dorne
