[Hiring] Linux and Tech DIY Telecommute Writers, Pay Starts at $90 per article
The following vacancies are available to be filled immediately.
##Vacancy: Do-It-Yourself staff writer
We’re looking for inspired makers to build cool technology projects and document the process. You'll be joining a vibrant team of passionate technology enthusiasts with great opportunities for personal and professional development.
The ideal candidate will be able to clearly break down a project into steps, and take great quality photographs and diagrams to illustrate each step, as well as the occasional video demo. You should be confident in one or more of the following areas: electronics, programming (C/Python), Arduino or Raspberry Pi, woodworking, sewing, or 3D printing, and a constant desire to learn more.
We'll expect 4 articles per month from you: one big project, plus three standard articles (smaller projects, or less hands-on pieces). Standard articles will be paid on a tiered rate starting at $90, with pay increasing every two years. Bigger projects will be paid anywhere from $150-$200 plus some allowance for materials expenses.
To apply for this position, please email jobs at makeuseof.com with the subject "Do-It-Yourself Writer". In your email, convince the editor, James Bruce, that you're a good fit for this position. Provide four links to blog posts or other online publications in order to illustrate your writing style, as well as some existing projects you've made. These don't necessarily have to be technology related, but should demonstrate your ability to break project into steps and your photography of the process. Please also send us three project ideas: these would be the first three things you would make.
##Vacancy: Linux staff writer
We are looking for passionate, experienced Linux writers with knowledge of multiple distros. Daily Linux use and a good understanding of the ecosystem are required, along with an ability to guide users through Linux features and applications with a clear and concise voice. You should be able and willing to explore and assess new distros, and be up to date with the latest apps.
You're expected to write and submit at least 1 Linux article every week. You may submit additional articles upon approval. Standard articles will be paid on a tiered rate starting at $90, with pay increasing every two years.
To apply for this position, please email jobs at makeuseof.com with the subject "Linux Writer" and convince the editor, Christian Cawley, why you're a good fit for this position. Provide four links to blog posts or other online publications that illustrate your writing ability (related to Linux if possible). Do not attach any files or resumés. Lastly, propose an article idea that you would write if chosen for this position.
