FIX: W10 Users experiencing D3D crashes or out of memory error
Didn't find anything regarding this issue since W10 is still slowing going out to users, and I couldn't find anything online.
Current culprits causing GTA5 to crash
- WinStore.Mobile.exe (Event Viewer log)
- Microsoft.WindowsStore (Event Viewer log)
- The Integrated Xbox Application
- Disable Windows Mobility Center (Which I believe is WinStore.Mobile.exe.
- Start > RUN > gpedit.msc > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components. Do the following in the screenshot. Should look like this when you're done.
Removing the Xbox Application
- Run Windows PowerShell as Administrator
- Run command Get-AppxPackage
- Scroll Down till you find the Xbox Application. Should be listed like this
- I'm unsure if you can reinstall the Xbox app later on if you want it, but PCMR shouldn't be using it
- Copy and paste the PackageFullName
- To remove excute command Remove-AppxPackage -package packagenamehere
- For me, the command was Remove-AppxPackage -package Microsoft.XboxApp_7.7.29027.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe
I loaded GTA5 back up, and I still had the prompt to open the settings tab via Win + G. Although, the Xbox app no longer loads. Played for about 30 minutes and didn't crash or experience any issues.
Also, I think if you use a Online Windows account vs a Windows Local Account, you can disable the Xbox DVR in the Xbox App settings, which also may fix the issue, but I use a local account, and I won't ever use this app, so I removed it.
