Prospective employer wants to know if salary range is okay with me; it's low

Employment

Hi,

A prospective employer asked if their salary range (very narrow, 5k window) is acceptable to me. They would like an answer before an interview.

The cost of living would be lower, but even considering that, the range they mentioned is much less than what I could make elsewhere. If they did their homework on Glassdoor, they know that it's a chunk less than my current compensation.

It's a high-profile company in my field, and of the companies I'm currently considering, it's the one that appeals the most to me personally. This particular position is similar to my current, though I currently have an equivalent "senior" title.

I feel like if I say "that range is okay" then I'm stuck in that range, and if I say "that's not enough," I won't get a chance to show that I'm worth more than that to them.

I want about 25% more than the range they mention. Glassdoor national average is 20% more. Any tips on negotiating?

Do I just lay out national average, their local cost of living, and call that good?
