Computer crashes after ram upgrade?

I recently bought 8 gb (2X4gb) for my Hp Pavilion p6710f. This is the only upgrade I've ever done for this computer. But it seems to crash after randomly while I'm using the computer. I get a blue screen of death. I've noticed that the fan is a bit louder now and I'm not sure of whether or not I should be changing a few settings to accommodate for the new ram. Any help will be appreciated, thanks.
