How can I talk to Cortana via text?

Sometimes when I want to talk to Cortana, I'm not in an environment that's ideal for physically speaking to her - a library for example. Is there any way I can just type to her? Typing in her little box just searches my files, the web and the Windows Store for that phrase.

TL;DR: I want to talk to Cortana via keyboard, not via mouth. Is it possible?
