[Build Help] G3258 or X4 860K
Hey all! So I've basically purchased all the parts for my planned ITX gaming build (yes, I know the Kingston SSD isn't good, but I'm stuck with it so that's what I'm using for now) except for the CPU and motherboard. I've researched the crap out of the pros and cons of both the Pentium G3258 and Athlon X4 860K and still haven't been able to make a decision. I don't know how bad the stuttering is on the Pentium or if I will need the 4 cores of the X4 for what I will be doing. At the moment, I'm leaning more towards the G3258 but I'd like a second (or even fifth) opinion. If I do get the G3258, I will likely overclock it a little on the stock cooler, but do not plan on overclocking the X4.
As it stands, I'm definitely going for budget CPUs and motherboards, and I don't really want to go much over the CPU-mobo combos I have below.
As far as games go, I'll probably be mainly playing LoL, FFXIV, CoD, Skyrim, and various emulators. I can live with 720p, medium settings.
I am in the US and near a Microcenter, and I am planning on buying the CPU and mobo within the next two weeks.
Here are the two options I came up with:
