Help me understand out-of-body experiences.

When I was 12, I had a brief one where I was just looking down at myself and my room for a couple of seconds, and then it was over. Since I wasn't an atheist I wasn't too shocked - thought it was interesting but didn't think much of it.

Some of you on this sub have stated that it's impossible for the soul or spirit to be separated from the body, that out-of-body experiences are always a lie or hallucination, etc. I wonder if that is just an opinion or if there has ever been anything definitive written about this subject in a Vatican document.

I certainly believe in the resurrection of the body and the integral connection between soul and body... But I can't deny what my experience was. My faith is just a little troubled. That out-of-body experience was just the same as my normal experience of being alive. Clear as day, completely awake, vivid as sight can be. If that experience is considered to be impossible by the Church.... I'd just have to do a lot of thinking because that would be a clash between two things that I know with certainty to be true.

Please help, guys. Any popes ever comment about this? Any saints?
