Am I the only one bothered with the classification of MDMA as a psychedelic like LSD, Psilocybin and DMT?

MDMA is usually classified with LSD, Psilocybin and DMT as a psychedelic drug. But there's something that bothers me here about it, and it's the fact that while LSD, Psilocybin and DMT are all similar, MDMA is different.

MDMA is an Amphetamine-based drug. MDMA is highly neurotoxic, which means regular use will lead to cumulative brain damage, and not just in serotonergic pathways (MDMA's neurotoxicity can also kill neurons related to Glutamate pathways).

MDMA is not NEARLY as safe as LSD, Psilocybin and DMT. While regular dosing of the classic psychedelics will cause a rapid tolerance buildup, their neurotoxicity is extremely low and the biggest complication of them is HPPD, which usually occurs only from ingesting high doses in short periods of time. Regular dosing of MDMA, though, can lead to long-lasting memory issues, increased anxiety and depression and an increased probability of motor disorders. These problems can last for months, years or that they can be permanent.

While MDMA can be used safely by people, it's misleading to say that it's a psychedelic like LSD, Psilocybin and DMT.

What is your opinion?
