Planning my first build, so ant advice would be great.

What is your intended use for this build? The more details the better.

Gaming mostly with some programming work for school too.

If gaming, what kind of performance are you looking for? (Screen resolution, FPS, game settings)

Don't have a monitor so this is flexible, and as good as possible within budget for the last two question.

What is your budget (ballpark is okay)?

I'm aiming for like 400-500 but I could go a bit higher if it would be worth it. I have the Best Buy employee discount which could help with some things
