Frustration. Still no mappable clutch on 360 gamepad.
What gives? I would imagine it can't be that complex to code this. Forza was allowing mappable clutches in 2007. I understand that at the core, this game requires a wheel to get the true effect, but don't neglect us controller users. I don't prefer a controller, I just simply don't have 250 bucks for a G27, I'm paycheck to paycheck like a lot of people. It's in the pipeline, but for now, we REALLY need a clutch on controllers. I've tried to "trick" my settings into using my controller as a wheel but the clutch is only mappable on a key that is dynamic like triggers and analogs.
Now, for the hardcores, I know what your thinking. "But Shane, a clutch in a real car doesn't operate as an up or down button, different types of depression on the pedal have different effects on the way the engine drives the tranny..its a simulator stupid".
So, my suggestion is to have it programmed so that by pressing a button that controls clutch (I picture the left bumper), the game auto depresses and auto releases the clutch at the fastest possible speed to accelerate without damaging the tranny instead of the clutch just registering as 100% up and 100% down.
It may sound odd, but I find the immersion greatly increased when it takes double the action to change a gear. I'm gonna get a wheel, its in the works but for now? please PLEASE give us a mappable clutch on a controller.
