What do I carry my smoldering fungus around in?

Once I find a Chagas or Polypore fungus (Cramp Balls don't grow in Kentucky USA as far as I know) and set it to smoldering, and I find I want to carry it from point A --> a mile or so away to point B, (because idk, a wildcat or a coyote is bugging me)(or a Sasquatch, or a serial killer)(or most likely a drunk redneck), and then light my fire with it, what do I carry it in in the meantime? Preferably something I carry anyway, not something I have to pack in...
