Car chase in the highlands

Has anyone heard anything about a high speed car chase through the highlands? I was at the light at the intersection of Zuni and 38th and a vehicle flew through a red light going about 70mph, followed by about 8 cop cars.

Car full of robbery suspects. Shortly after when you saw them, the helicopter got overhead and the police cars backed off to trail.

Thanks for the response, it definitely scared me for a minute - we were really close to getting nailed by their vehicle. Have you heard of the outcome? I'm surprised that anyone thinks they can escape from police in a car chase in 2015. Between vehicles, helicopters and technological advances it seems like it would be difficult to escape police via chase.

It would be if police still chased. But people get away all the time. Unfortunately, chases have become such a hot button issue because bad guys drive like such unadulterated dick heads and hurt innocent people.

Even when chasing legitimate bad people (like robbery suspects) we get called off sometimes, because no one wants to be the next guy on the news being held "responsible" for a suspect plowing into a minivan full of a family of 5.

It's a damned if you do/damned if you don't, because the bad guys know it. They run All. The. Time.

And I see both sides, the risk to the public vs the compelling need to apprehend bad guys. Unfortunately I don't have a good solution.

That's a really good point. That exact thought crossed my mind when watching it happen, that the officer would end up having the public point the finger at them as being responsible if something bad happened. I'd say you're correct - damned either way.

Hah, comments about full moons. Are we forgetting it's rent week?

No, but they're more frequent than you'd think. I deal with vehicles and local police at work. Look left, look right.

Yeah, and it looks like they crashed in Aurora (Parker and Florida)

Interesting, there was another runner at 38th & Lipan at about 1530 yesterday, almost hit a lady and her little girl coming out of the Chubby's parking lot while the officers in the lot were dealing with something else.

Full moon shenanigans indeed.
