[EVENT] The "Mad Pope Alexander's" Treaty of Tordesillas

"With the recent signing of the Treaty of Nancy by Lorraine and The Papal states giving control of territory 350 leagues around the original starting colony, the Pope Julius II, blessed by God has decided to mend the arbitrary ruling by the Mad Pope Alexander. With ever more territory being discovered in this New World provided by God, ceding territory to 2 nations greatly hampers the effort of Catholic rulers to proselytise to the natives and bring the word of God to them. By Papal decree the Treaty of Tordesillas will be amended:

• No longer will Spain and Portugal lay claims to land either side of the line of demarcation.

• Instead land 350 leagues around the original colonies will be regarded as sovereign land to the nation who's colony it is.

• An extension of the territory around the colony can be granted by Papal decree.

"Pope Julius II feels this would promote more Catholics to journey to the New World, and promote fairer distribution of land among the many Catholic nations."
