Visiting Boston in a week, looking for recommendations for where to stay and what to see?

Hello all.

So in a nutshell I'm attending a conference in Boston in a week near MIT, and wondered if anyone had any recommendations on where would be a good place to stay that doesnt' cost a fortune (around the 100-150/night ballpark), and things to see when I'm not listening to people present things. Already have Fenway Park (hell it's just down the street, why not?) and Cape Cod on the list, but figured I'd ask people that live here 24/7 for what to see and where to stay that isn't a dive.
