It's always been about the money

Just off the top of my head:

  1. Joseph Smith charging roughly 200 a copycopy in today's dollars for the bom.

  2. Charging people to use the special rock to find treasure in their yards.

  3. Taking people's money in the kirtland bank fiasco.

  4. Joseph Smith selling real estate in nauvoo to property he didn't have deeds to.

  5. Trying to sell bom copyright in Canada.

  6. Trying to find "treasure" in Salem.

  7. B. Young and others charging for marriages, patriarchal blessings etc.

  8. Under supplying converts on their trek to Utah and then charging them exhorbitantly for supplies at fort Bridger and when they arrived at salt lake.

  9. Extorting huge amounts of back tithing from parents in order to see their kids married.

  10. Heavy pressure to donate your estate to the church upon your death.

  11. Extravagant malls and other investments.

  12. For years, in addition to tithing, charging building funds, fast offerings, special temple building funds, bake sales, scouting drives etc. Etc.

  13. The "shakedown" that occurs with the bishop in front of your wife and children at tithing settlement.

  14. Using members as janitors while they hoard their billions.

These are things of course that Jesus would do if he was running his church.
