What's a good place to stop for a break in Delaware?

We're heading down to the Outer Banks from NYC this weekend. Google Maps tells me to take DE-1 and US-113 through Delaware. Can anyone recommend a decent place to stop for an hour or two (with kids)? The ideal would be a nice town with places to eat and stretch our legs. Is it worth stopping in Dover, or are there other options?
