Anyone found that the audio balance was off?

My audio output was heavily off to the left side. It took me a while before I found the balance settings and I have no idea how it went off center. Anyone else had this happen? Probably a simple explanation but it's just weird. I thought I had a defective audio chip for a couple of months. No little kids playing with it either.
