There should be a tradition of children renaming themselves when they become adults.
Your name says a lot about your parents, but nothing about you. When your parents choose your name, they project their values and ambitions onto you. They signal to the world what kind of people they are, and what kind of person they hope you will become. It would be kind of cool if we made a habit of correcting that. Obviously, we all have the option of changing our names, but I think I'd like to see it become more common place.
