I'm 21 years old, two years of successful B2B outside sales experience and looking for a new role.
Hello r/sales
Thanks for being a great resource.
My current job
I have been an outside sales, brand & marketing representative for a corporate print & marketing firm on the east coast for the past two years. My current role involves connecting with numerous marketing teams to help create and implement print marketing campaigns. I also aid by offering support to their overall brand direction/vision, by bringing their marketing colleteral to life (Business cards, letterhead, brochures, POS, etc). My work days consist of 3-4 creative briefs or client presentations, but some days during the week consist of solely making visits to their offices and bringing them company swag and/or having a friendly conversation.
My compensation
My base salary is $35,000 yearly + 9% commission on new client deals. I receive 4% commission on exisiting client re-orders, such as business cards, rack cards, etc.
It may sound like I have a great job, but I am growing tired of the same routine. Starting to feel as though if I stay any longer, I will miss out on another opportunity. I understand I am very young.
My questions
What advice could you give me on my current situation? Anyone out there in the print and marketing world? What about other sales/marketing roles that would be good for someone with my experience/age? Are there any recommended fortune 500 companies that hire people like me for entry-level, and will promote from within?
Thanks, I really appreciate it!
