HELP! Trying to replace my spout in my bathroom, and I used petroleum based lubricant on the pipe.

I had to replace the spout on my shower. Seems like a simple job. Went to the store and the instructions on the spout were to use plumber's lubricant. I had no idea what that was, so I asked, and the gentleman immediately went to the shelf and handed me a small red container.

I removed the spout, cleaned the pipe, and applied a small amount of lubricant to the pipe when I realized that some of it got inside the pipe itself. Just a small amount that I immediately removed and cleaned out as much as possible.

After a quick google search, I realized that I did not get silicon based lubricant that would be safe for ingestion but rather petroleum based (this was later confirmed by calling the manufacturer).

What do I do? Is it safe? Can I clean it off? Do I need to replace that piece of piping?

I know this might seem more dramatic than it really is but this is my first home and I am just trying to do as much as possible myself so I can learn as well.

Thank you!
