[Discussion] Is the Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test a good way to assess a puppy's future temperament, or is it outdated? Are there better methods to assess a puppy?

I am visiting a puppy next week that a breeder thinks I will be a good match for. At the time of the visit, he will be 46 days old. I have seen a lot about the Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test (http://www.volhard.com/pages/pat.php[1] ) but never seen it discussed here. Is this the best way for my to assess whether the pup will be a good fit for me? Are there other things I should do/check to make sure he will be a good companion?
