Hey r/Vancouver. I'm the guy giving away a free HP server.

Original Post

I really didn't expect so much response, so i'm trying to figure out the most fair way of doing this and here's what I've come up with.

There will be TWO giveaways. One for the server, and one for the tape drive. If you want in on the draw, leave a post in this thread with "server" or "tape" (or both) in the comment. The winner will be chosen using Limmy's Raffle King... oddly the same system i use to pick where i'm eating lunch on most days.

Here's the rules(subject to change);

• One entry per user
• Winners will be informed by PM (EDIT: To help out people that need to make special arrangements to come downtown, I'll be doing the draw sometime on Tuesday)
• Winners MUST confirm that they're actually taking it, and can be at my office (Hornby/Robson) between noon and 5PM next Thursday (no exceptions, I need to be on a plane Thursday night).
• if the winner doesn't show up by 5PM sharp, I'll post in this thread shortly after 5PM and whoever gets here first has it... Since i've got a flight to catch, if nobody gets to the office by 6, i'm going to bring it to the ewaste dumpster outside and someone can grab it from there.
• the server will be freshly DBAN'd, No OS, No HP Warranty, No Warranty from me. If the server dies in a month, or burns down your house or shoots your dog I/my company will not be liable. This is strictly as-is, where-is. -The tape drive will come with no storage media. No HP Warranty, No Warranty from me. If the drive dies in a month, or burns down your house or shoots your dog I/my company will not be liable. This is strictly as-is, where-is.

NOTE: Please dont PM me with offers of cash to skip the raffle. As it stands, giving stuff away for free is totally Kosher with my company, accepting cash for used work equipment is an ethical issue I'd rather not deal with.

NOTE2: this thing is really heavy. You will need a vehicle to move it. I don't care what you do with it after it leaves the office, but realistically you're not gonna lug this on the bus.

Shout out to r/homelab

##EDIT: Congrats to u/TheSheaButterFactory for winning the server and u/BrainInAJar for the tape drive! Keep an eye on this thread tomorrow. if they're a no-show it'll be a blitz to see who gets here first.

EDIT2: u/BrainInAJar has picked up the tape drive.
