[Minigame] Regicide

[Minigame] - Regicide

Trove is a perfect game for minigames. A solid playerbase, lots of different classes and teamwork aspects. So the minigame I'm going to suggest will make sure to take advantage of that. All of this can be made possible when PvP comes out, which Trion said would happen.

Regicide - Defend your king, claim the monolith in the middle, lower the forcefield on your enemy's base, and slay the enemy king to win.

The minigame is designed to be end-game content for maxed out characters, but anyone can play. The game will balance out the teams depending on what level they are. Note: There will be a random queue and a team queue, random queues are more fair, but team queues can be more fun if your teamwork is good (the matchmaker will try to find a team that is closest to your average level). To join either game, type /regicide random or /regicide team, and when a game is available you will be automatically teleported into the arena. To unqueue, simply type /regicide leave.

Regicide is a gamemode playable by up to 16 players on each team. To play, you must have at least 3 other teammates. The map consists of two dungeons surrounded by unclimbable mountains on the edges. The two dungeon entrances faces each other and each contain a "king mob". If the king mob dies, that team loses.

However, this isn't as cut-and-cry like dungeon raiding usually is. First of all, you'll have other real players that will be able to stop you. Secondly, there's a forcefield only passable by the team on each dungeon entrance. To remove it, you have to control the monolith in the middle by interacting with it when no enemy players are nearby, and collect shards from slaying other players and neutral mobs that will spawn from the sides.

When you have put enough shards in the monolith, the forcefield will open, but if the other team manages to snag the monolith, the forcefield will immediately be revived. That's why it's important to keep control of the middle even as you rush in for the kill.

As you push down into the dungeon, if the forcefield comes back up, all those who are already inside will not be thrown out. It just means they are cut off from reinforcements.

When the king dies, a shiny chest appears with some unique loot (I'll leave this up to the devs and the creative item designers). Both teams will also get a constant amount of flux, to keep people from quitting midgame, and the amount depends on how long the game lasts. Not a crazy amount, but still enough to keep it interesting. Note: The amount of flux you get per minute will become gradually lower, so that afking for flux isn't really a viable option.

Issues and possible solutions:

Shadow hunter sniping king from the surface: - The forcefield extends around the entire dungeon. - The king automatically regains all health when there are no more enemies nearby.

This way the shadow hunter can still help kill the king from the surface, but they can't singlehandedly snipe the king down.

Switching class while ingame to fool matchmaking system: - You cannot switch class while in a match.
