Need advice on sexism in tech companies

Sorry if this isn't the right place for this to go, but I think it's broad enough of a topic to fit. I'm working as an intern at a MSP for the summer and will be finishing next week - and thank god, because while I've learned a ton working at this company, it has a lot of issues.

Since I started three months ago at least twenty people have left or been let go. That would be bad on it's own, but I've noticed there's a very "us vs. them" vibe between genders here. With two exceptions, (one being myself) all the women at this company work in hr or marketing and are expected to man the receptionist's position, per the CEO. The men technically can, but it's almost like there's an unspoken agreement that they won't. And the tech guys treat them horribly and lack complete respect for them...they haven't treated me that way, but I don't feel comfortable being the exception just because I'm "different".

I get that sexism is present everywhere, but I really don't want to work in a place like this again. Is there a way to tell whether companies have bad policies other than reading reviews? Is this a normal situation in the industry or did I just end up in a place with terrible upper management?
