Angel Cortes' Upthrow-Downair Combo?

After watching his set with Fatality at SSC, why was Angel Cortes always going for dairs after he got the upthrow with Diddy? Does it do more damage, is he trying to keep uair fresh, or is he just fishing for a spike like nobody's business?
