Positive Gooners - What's your take?
Hi All,
I've been a little down reading the post-West Ham shit storm on this sub. To forming a witch-hunt and finding a scapegoat, to hitting the panic alarm, to player abuse, this sub was a bit tough to take at times.
My take
- For whatever reason, I took that West Ham loss in stride, ya it stunk, but I felt as though it was good to get that kind of performance out of the system early. It's better to have this kinda performance on day 1 than in the Champions league knockout phase. All teams have a stinker. It felt almost like a cleanse, an eye opener that we can't go through the motions. In the grand scheme of things we're still just 3 points behind top spot :)
Charity Shield vs. West Ham
- If I was given a choice as to which match I'd like to see Arsenal win, I'd have chosen the Charity Shield any day. That match was crucial to removing the monkey off our back.
Scapegoat
- We boo'd Aaron Ramsey relentlessly in the 2011/12 season, all for what? The boss had to stop playing him at home matches due to this. His 2013/14 season was spectacular. I feel we're going down that path again - which is dangerous. What's the point in doing this? I also don't get how we can adjudge his character as a narcissistic self serving human all of a sudden. Any ways, I think it's better to support a player than boo him. We'll turn into Madrid.
Maybe I'm Just Old
- Maybe I just have other life priorities these days, where a football match can't consume most of my day anymore. But I do like logging on the r/gunners, but I would like to hear what other gooners who aren't standing on the ledge of a bridge have to say about our current state :)
