Marlene. And all the writers really. For making an association between mental illness and gender dysphoria and going further than that and making a character that, supposedly because they are transgender, became dissociated with reality and extremely violent. That's a dangerous road and I thought for sure they knew better.

I should've known Marlene would make such a heinous mistake. I think this article said it best: "I expect more from Pretty Little Liars than such a cheap and potentially dangerous explanation for Charles being “evil”. If this is the route they go I will be 100000% done because it’s problematic as hell."

Way to alienate an entire population and their loved ones, exploit the tumultuous and difficult adolescence most transgendered teens experience, and associate transgenderism with serious, violent mental illness.
