Is there a way to stand still and cast spells with the sorc using a controller?

I love the sorc, but man, it is so much easier with mouse and keyboard, and I'm not saying this because i can't aim with a controller, it's just the positioning and stutter-stepping with a controller is super hard, atleast for me :O Is it possible to walk with left stick and aim with right stick?
