Five days in and I think I'm doing everything wrong.

Hey guys,

Only been a more regular smoker since about March, and enjoying it mostly with pipes and RAW. At first, I'd spend ~$50 every six weeks or so. Now I'm up to about $350/month between me and my wife.

I bought my first PAX this past weekend to enjoy with some Blue Dream after finding it new for $180. But I feel like I'm wasting stuff that I know is good while trying to figure out the best way to enjoy the vapor. Full Disclosure: I had a G Pen Pro for a few weeks this spring, but it stopped working after it dropped a few times. My wife didn't like using it, but I felt like I got some buzz from it.

My wife loves the PAX, not just for the clean buzz she gets but because of how the vapor clears up her sinuses. (Pipes and paper put her directly to sleep at night.) I'm not having as much luck because I feel entirely lost. Here are my experiences thus far:

  • I'm constantly testing the temperature, trying to find my optimal settings. Maybe I'm overthinking it and that's why I'm not feeling anything?
  • I'm not sure I'm toking right. Do I hit this like a pipe, a blunt, or another way? YouTube guys say slow inhale, but I think I just end up feeling lightheaded because I'm asthmatic.
  • I'm not sure when my oven is done. I've emptied it out after the vapor quality I'm inhaling feels inadequate. But some users say that those brown bits are still good enough on high heat. This isn't an issue with a pipe or raw cones.
  • The lubricant surprised me. Pause. I completely ignored the lubricant my first few days, until last night when I applied too much and finally got some harsh-feeling hits from the PAX. It wasn't an ideal smoking experience, but I feel like I finally got closer to doing something right.

Appreciate any help, and apologize for any redundancies in the conversation.
