[PC]Dark souls: prepare to die edition on win 8.1

Hayo so i want to play dark souls prepare to die edition on win 8.1. Whenever i play it is only 12-18 fps and after 2 minuets it will kick me out due to to low of fps. I am running the exe in win 7 compatibility mode but starting it from steam. Any help?
