Using the Xbox controller's USB cable in my PC seems to un-pair the controller from my Xbox

Anybody else running into this? I tested streaming to my newly formatted Win10 machine yesterday. I used my controller's USB cable to plug into the PC, and when I went back to the living room my controller would no longer connect to the Xbox wirelessly.

I ended up having to use the pair buttons on the controller and console to get them to play nicely. Is this a known issue?
