Garmin Pilot & ForeFlight Competition Over?

Last week I wrote an email into Garmin Pilot support asking them to implement a feature that would allow X-plane to send data to Garmin Pilot over Wifi, much like ForeFlight does now. Here is my email:

"Hello, When I am not actually flying, I like to stay sharp by using X-plane (among other things to make the experience as real as possible). I would really love to be able to send GPS NMEA data to Garmin Pilot from X-plane. This is a feature that has been in Foreflight for a long time - as early as 2012 (http://ipadpilotnews.com/2012/11/how-to-use-the-foreflight-mobile-app-with-x-plane-flight-simulator/) For you guys, I think it is an easy win because you not only get subscription purchases from real world pilots, but also people who love to fly the sim. Hopefully you will add this soon, or I may have to start getting used to Foreflight! Thanks, Adam"

Friendly, but included a little spur at the end indicating the competition is ahead in this regard. Here is their response:

"Dear Adam,

Thank you for contacting Garmin International.

We do have it on our Android version, but Apple is picky when it comes to GPS spoofing.

The Android version works very well with X plane, and I have it set up with our G5000 simulator.

I will suggest it as another request to the developers.

We are business partners with Foreflight now, so you can use whatever app you would like.

Best Regards,

Jonathan

Garmin Aviation Support"

I found that interesting - I mean, great that they are business partners, but what does that mean in terms of the accelerated development pace due to competition?

Adam
