Aggressive guest removed by police - Airbnb won't let me review
Basically, I've hosted a couple of dozen times over the last year or two, and two weeks ago, a guest arrived, hasn't read the listing and was disappointed at the lack of a desk in the room. He was due to be here a week, and I considered trying to get a cheap desk, but it was late, there was nowhere open.
Anyway, the listing includes a list of furniture items in the room, so I read this out to him, trying to be polite but firm, he responds by shouting "I've never stayed in a place without a desk, ever", and, completely out-of-the-blue, throwing the coffee table at me. I get behind a solid door and call the police, he is booked and taken away.
I call Airbnb, explain what happened, they cancel his booking and apologise a lot. He's been charged for the stay (strict cancellation policy!), and the coffee table (from the security deposit).
However, today, they told me that I can't write a review, because 'we will only publish your comments about guests who actually stay with you'.
They refused to tell me whether he will be allowed to travel with Airbnb again, which leads me to suspect he will. If he will be contacting more hosts in the future, I think it's only fair I should be allowed to review him, at least for the protection of future hosts. It feels like, by preventing reviews when there are serious problems, they kind of white-wash the whole review system?
Has anyone had anything like this before?
