why not have 2 matches simultaneously 10 people are the air cover, 10 are on the ground. those who like to fly can be in the fighters providing air support and those who just like walking can be on the ground providing ground support. 10 v 10 in the air and on the ground at the same time still hits that apparent sweet spot of 40 players AND solves the problem of the players being spread thin.
