Social Interaction Feedback
This may sound odd, but is there such a thing where you can join a one-on-one/class session that you can get feedback on your social interactions?
For instance...I may think my body language is showing one thing, but instead the person is getting a different impression. I need someone to outright tell me, no holds barred.
More often than not, I feel like I am the awkward elephant in the room. I can relate to most of the threads - I'm boring the person, can't get past small talk/acquaintances, nothing to say during a conversation, etc... I feel like I'm either misreading or totally oblivious to social cues.
Even everyday interactions with cashiers, reception staff I get the vibe like I offended/annoyed them. I try to smile but I swear my smile must be really fake or creepy, I don't know! I need someone to tell me. The general consensus might be that they are having a bad day or it's them being unhappy for whatever reason, but it happens too often which is why I feel like I'm doing something wrong.
There are classes for everything else - academia, sports, dancing, why not social interaction? I've done a few sessions with a therapist in the past, but I feel they have the "you figure it out yourself" approach. There's a lot of information on what to do and how to do it, there just isn't a concrete feedback loop, at least for me, that tells me what I'm doing right and wrong.
