[Discussion] Cheap Ebay build with SSD
I bought one of these HP dc7900 desktops off of Ebay recently, it has a late generation quad core Intel Core series processor, and actually had pretty decent benchmarks. You can pick them up for less than $150
For example (http://www.ebay.com/itm/HP-DC-Series-7900-SFF-Q9400-2-6GHz-2GB-250GB-Win-7-Pro-1-Yr-Wty-/191655486295?hash=item2c9f8ea357)
The one I have is plenty fast and usable with a normal HDD in it, but if you have another $80 on hand, you can throw an SSD in it, and it will fly! Not to mention that if you can get a good, cheap, low profile graphics card for this, I imagine you could get a decent one for $100 or less, then you have a computer with great specs (storage, proc, graphics card) for $330! and that's assuming you spend a whole $100 on a graphics card.
Anyway, I just wanted to spread the word. The only caveat I can think of is that you can't get a big graphics card, and the RAM is DDR2. But the DDR2 doesn't seem to hold back speeds from my personal experience. Maybe it would become more of a bottleneck with an SSD installed? Also maybe there are custom builds that have better specs for less $?
