MOS 6300? Pensacola advice?

My son is in a cab on way to NAS Pensacola to start his MOS (6300 Avionics). Anyone have any rock solid advice for him or me? What are the best jobs and how to get them? What to avoid while in "NJP Capital" as I have heard it called? Thanks.
