A stupid one: Chase Bank recommends it's customers do not share their bank login details with third-party websites. Just when you thought Reddit couldn't get any more contrarian, /r/personalfinance disagrees with this basic advice.
Why doesn't chase provide read-only account log-ins? Instead of attempting to wipe their hands clean with this (good luck), they should add functionality. [top scoring comment]
Yeah, Chase Bank could create two logins for each and every one of their millions of customers, and dealwith the massive headache that creates. Or, ya know, you could not give out your bank username and password to third-party sites. Or you could, but accept the risk you're taking.
Maybe chase should start allowing special characters and stop normalising the case of their passwords as a first step.[3rd top]
I love this. "It's Chase's fault because they don't allow strong passwords." Chase could give more the strongest password in the world, but it would just as easily be compromised if you gave it away to someone else. Obviously if you give them your password - I can't believe I'm saying this, you'd think this goes without saying.
Speechless here.
