Practicality of Ferro rods for survival
I thought I'd explore the use and place of ferro rods by r/survival members.
Do you own a ferro rod?
Do you carry it all the time in your survival pack?
Do you rely on it as a primary fire starter?
What else do you carry and how does it stack up to your ferro rod?
If you prefer ferro, why?
I own one and can use it, but I don't carry it around due to weight. I carry a lighter and some waterproof matches because they are practical. My ferro is a bit of a toy tool for fun, or if I run out of lighters and matches in a post-apocalyptic scenario.
