5 weeks in. The full scoop.

In late June my girlfriend was visiting and while we were in my room she spotted a bug crawling on my headboard. I tried to kill it but it escaped.

July 3rd, First Contact: I was cleaning my room and noticed a bug crawling on my work shirts sitting on my ottoman at the foot of my bed. I picked it up and set it on my desk and crushed it. I then identified as a bedbug for sure and looked at various pictures. Surrounding this day I had bites regularly but dismissed them as other bug bites.

July 17th, Lights, Bug Spray, Action: On the morning of the 17th I woke up and was laying in bed in my phone browsing Reddit when I saw a white spec traversing my sheets. After focusing in I knew immediately that it was a nymph. I got out of bed, showered and took everything away from my bed. After stripping the bed I found them along the side of my bed skirt that is against a wall and all over the box spring. I called my dad and told him I would be moving back in and set up arrangements to move on the following Monday.

That day I bought some RAID spray and sprayed every inch of my mattress and box spring. Thinking that would suffice I stayed at my father's house the following three nights on his couch after heat treating my clothes.

The move was very easy and did not take long at all. I didn't notice any bugs on anything as we moved so it seemed to be safe since I had dumped the mattress and box spring. The weekend following the move was spent out of town l and I didn't return home until the following Monday, one week after the move.

July 28th, The Creepy Crawlies: In the wee hours of this fine Tuesday morning I shot awake to a feeling of something on my eyelid. After picking off the culprit and crushing it, I set it aside on my headboard for further inspection in the morning. Upon waking up I immediately checked the corpse to positively identify a bed bug. I then looked down at my pillow to see ~5 late stage nymphs or adults all over the pillow.

I ditched everything that was on the bed, and I knew immediately that the headboard must be the storage facility. I detached it from the frame and moved it outside at which point I dismantled it and threw it out.

Since I was now back at my father's house I knew I couldn't take any chances and over-nighted a bottle of cimeXa and a shaker. The next day I was busy dusting every inch of my room, the doorways to his room and various pieces of furniture that get enough traffic to warrant a bug wanting to hang around. The morning of the 29th was the last time I spotted a live adult.

Over the past two weeks I have dusted and resisted most areas of my room and outside my room. As I've posted before I saw nymphs regularly but since moving my bed away from the wall that had stopped. Two days ago I found three nymphs on my computer chair which forced me to take precautions yesterday. I ripped off the bottom fabric to find two more nymphs which I promptly dusted and then duct taped all crevices on the chair. I have gone all day today without any kind of sighting.

What makes me most excited is having not seen an adult in almost two whole weeks. While they may still be alive, they also aren't feeding, which means no eggs to my knowledge. Tomorrow my encasements arrive along with another bottle of cimeXa. My hopes are that I will only see death and destruction in my wake from here on out.
