If there was another brand split in WWE. How would you book it?

Where would you put certain wrestlers? What about the titles? And who would be feuding for them? I'm looking forward to WWE 2K16 and the idea of Universe mode with the updated roster, got me to thinking....How would I book it.

Book one brand as a developmental that starts to challenge the other established brand in quality, ratings, views, etcetera.

It would actually be fascinating to do it kinda like the Premier League in soccer. You get relegated to development depending on performance.

And then you start seeing a bunch of women wrestlers lose matches on purpose

So many "forgot to kick out" botches.

Kind of like Smackdown in 2002

Heath Slater would be the face of Smackdown.

I hear so much about Heath Slater, could someone hook me up with an idea of a good match to watch with him in?

I'd book Raw as the flagship brand, keep NXT as developmental, and make Smackdown the rougher, grittier B-show where all of the weird misfit characters who've been shoved down the card in Raw get a chance to shine and are booked in fairly ambitious interlocking storylines. Kind of like the idea Max Landis had for it on Twitter.

Do you have a way I could see Max Landis' idea in full. I really like the thought of a grittier, more outrageous B-show in Smackdown. It would cut down on the amount of purist wrestling fans who could just watch Raw, who complain about the corny stuff we sometimes get. The people who like the comedy gimmicks, the hard-core, and the more developed 'unusual' characters would be happy to watch Smackdown. And if you like both pure wrestling and the other more entertainment side of things you could just check out a bit of both.

I really like his idea. It still gives opportunities for great wrestling while invoking more of the crazy interlocking stories of the Attitude and Ruthless Aggression eras.

In this scenario everyone is healthy:

Raw:

Cena

Bryan

Orton

Lesnar

Wyatt

Harper

Stowman

Sheamus

Cesaro

Big Show

Ryback

Stardust/Rhodes

Barrett

New Day

Dudleyz

Los Matadores

Ascension

Paige

Sasha Banks

Charlotte

Nikki Bella

Brie Bella

Smackdown:

Reigns

Rollins

Ambrose

Owens

Rusev

Ziggler

Neville

Henry

Tyson Kidd

Miz

Swagger

Usos

Lucha Dragons

Prime Time Players

Fandango

Ryder

Becky Lynch

Summer Rae

Emma

Natalya

Alicia Fox

Naomi

Didn't use everyone but tried to get most in.

SplubWheres your Big E shirt?•

I'd put all of the people who are too experienced for NXT on Smackdown. Then I would take established guys who have accomplished a lot like Cena and put them at the top acting like gatekeepers for these younger and or underutilized talents to overcome.

2
PushingPrawnOPtacos, not the hard kind•

Would this mean that people who were established, but not going anywhere at the top to the upper mid of the card - Kane, Big Show, Mark Henry etc need to step aside? You can only have so many 'gate-keeper' roles, reserved for the very top guys ie Cena, Brock, Rollins

Either that or I would bump them down the card since they really shouldn't be near the top.

dizzy_hogan ?•

OK I would avoid the problems they had in the first brand splits, I would not break any tag teams, US Title would be on Smackdown and make it SD exclusive and make the IC Title Raw exclusive and they would be the only Titles that are brand exclusive. WWE World Title, Tag Titles, and Divas Title would change every month to go with that brands PPVs.

2

Would you have the PPVs 'hosted' by an individual brand, as they did for some time before?

Yes

I'd replace Smackdown (which isn't needed anymore) with NXT.

2
TolerancEJ•

An NXT/SmackDown should have a separate writing team, like the Raw/SD brands had years ago.

Until Paul Heyman's storylines on SD are beating Raw's and they fire him and push SD down again. :)

I think more people would enjoy this idea. However, where would put the lower-mid card guy from Raw that occasionally get a run-out on Smackdown?

1
mezomi•

I wouldn't. The roster is absolutely gutted in terms of star power. With one, there would be even less of a reason to watch each show.

For an actual answer I would probably do a variant like others are saying. I'd make Raw the main show still and Smackdown edgier. I would also but Divas on one show and tag teams on the other. Raw could have guys like Cena, Big Show, Sheamus and Orton while Smackdown would have Wyatt, Ambrose, Rollins and Reigns.
