Newer streamer thoughts on retaining viewers.
I have streamed for just over a month now and I have noticed the way I treat new viewers helped me to retain my viewers on a daily basis. I thought I would share in hopes it would help someone else.
So, a little bit about my stream. In the around the month I have streamed I have gained 117 followers which isn't to shabby in my opinion! Over the last couple weeks I normally average around 8 viewers my whole stream (4-6 hours) and spike to around 12 to 15 for a couple hours. I feel this is pretty good and here is how I feel I got to this.
So like most new streamers that first day you are kind of nervous and you probably struggled with things to say, I did. I would get a viewer every now and then but none would really stick. They would come in and say Hi and I would replay "hey man" and about a minute later they were gone. This lasted about a week until I sat down and thought about how I could better my stream presence when people came in. I decided the next person to stop by I would get a little hyped about. I did this and that guy to this day does not miss a stream. From that point on I would always get excited when people come in.
Here is what I do. When someone says Hi to me I always say something along the lines of "Hey man! How are you? I hope you are having a fantastic day because we sure are and we are glad you stopped by." This isn't verbatim but, its about what I say in one fashion or another. Then my regulars start chatting to to them and its just a great experience for everyone.
I feel like this alone, just getting happy and hyped, when people are around really helped me to get that viewer to come back. I have gotten messages where people say they felt great about being in my stream due to this and turned one guys "worst day ever" into a day he got to actually smile at the end of the night. Best feeling ever!
TLDR: Get hyped when new people come in. Make sure they feel welcomed and appreciated, because you do appreciate it. This is just something that worked for me I thought I may share.
