(MGSV & MG1 SPOILERS) how is it that so many people are inferring that Venom Snake

Is the Big Boss we kill in MG1? Did I miss some major plot point at the end? Like I see how that is possible, but is it not possible that Venom and BB eventually go to war with each other ending with (assumingly) BB as the victor? Or some other totally different scenario
