Just finished talking with my parents

Hi all, I was going to just edit my first post, but decided the insights from my talk with my parents warranted a post of its own. I tried linking the original post, but in case it didn't I'll try again here.

So basically I learned two things.

  1. We will back off with the morning scriptures and second-hour Sunday lesson.

The second is tricky. They said they have no intention of kicking me out unless I try to "sow doubt in the little ones." They told me I could choose whether or not I went to Sacrament Meeting and scripture study, and was I really for my little brother and sister to know I didn't believe? They told me my other sister knows I don't believe and that has only made her testimony stronger. I asked them what they were afraid of and they were quiet for a minute.

Then things got a little weird. My dad said "It would be in your best interest to go to Sacrament meeting." It wasn't him getting emotional about my well-being, but more like a veiled threat. So nothing has really changed. I'm trying to figure out what exactly they mean by sowing doubt in the little ones. If they mean just being who I truly am and my siblings seeing that I won't turn into a scary/broken/failed person after not believing counts as "sowing doubt" then I guess the ultimatum is still there. However everything seems really ambiguous so I'm not really sure what to make of it.

I guess I'm just really confused as to what they are going to do and if I am ready to tell everyone about how I feel. Suddenly I'm afraid that all my extended family will shun me and my siblings will think I've betrayed them. Also, when the inevitable "why?" Comes up what do I say? Do I just say "oh, I was offended so I consciously chose to reject God Hurr durr". Anything else would be sure to "sow doubt" right?

Anyways it's been a long day, and I'm gonna get a good nights rest. Thank you all for being so kind, supportive, and thoughtful. Love you guys, you're the best.
