Rotting food got into soil under a bush, got rid of the food but it still stinks. How can I get rid of the smell?

It's a bush outside our apartment where someone stuck a container of Chinese food. Got rid of it but it looks like quite a bit of the sauce dripped down onto the lower branches/into the dirt.

How can I remedy this situation? I would just bleach the soil but I don't want to kill the bush. And I guess I could dig up some of the soil but it's not exactly easy to get to with the bush being there.
