Cable and Xbox1 in PCV

I am bringing my xbox 1 to school this weekend, and i want to use the xbox tv controls, and I know that PCV has coax wall jacks for the cable... but no HDMI. I think a digital TV conveter box will get me coax to HDMI, but I'm not sure if that will work. Has anyone else tried to get their xbox1 to control the cable TV?
