RE consultation went well

Update

He was really lovely. Patient and a good listener, made sure we understood his answers, very up to date with treatment, very willing to work with our insurance situation. I feel like I'm in capable, kind hands.

I start bcp tomorrow because I'm going to get a saline ultrasound October 1st. We don't have infertility coverage till we switch insurance in November, so he's going to work with us with that, and bill as much under gynecology as he can. So we'll start with that ultrasound, assess fibroid growth, then take things from there.

No visible growth, uterine cavity normal - we'll progress to bloodwork and possibly a hysteroscopy.

Fibroid growth - there's a medication that's currently undergoing the approval process to help suppress/arrest fibroid growth, and it's supposedly really promising in the situation my uterus finds itself in, with lots of fibroid seedlings. It's actually available already, but it's used off label for fibroids, so I luckily won't have to wait for the approval. The upside to this medication is that it preserves fertility much longer than surgery. It can even help prevent eventual hysterectomy, which is what often happens when your fibroids are plentiful and prolific. The downside is that it's a 3-6 month course. Anything for a baby, I guess, but I'll probably have to resign myself to the idea that I won't have a baby in my arms till 2017.

Mixed feelings abound, but I'm mostly fine. I'm trying to think of this as all part of my unique process. Honestly I'm also just tired of this.

Thanks again to all the ladies who gave advice. It made a huge difference.
