Best way to meet girls?

Alright guys, let's hear it: how do you meet girls here at cal poly?

I'm curious who else shares the same struggle as me. I'm a 4th year physics major, so there's never any datable girls in my classes. I'm not much of a partier, but when I do go out it's usually difficult to cold approach girls if they're in a group and you don't know many people at the party.

I'm looking for ideas. What's a good way to casually meet girls here? It's a lot easier to spark interest with a girl if you're consistently seeing them in some casual setting. It's a lot harder to get a girl to pay attention to you when you're one of a 100 other drunk dudes at a party.

Side question: what do you guys (or ladies!) think about hitting on a girl at the gym, for instance? I feel like most girls don't want to be bothered but if you're suave enough about it there's always a way to make it work. How about other places on campus?
