Quick Question about updating to the latest build

So i'm rooted and running the stock rom with xposed. I was wondering if i needed to flash the recovery from the zip file? or can i just keep the TWRP recovery?

also, would i have to reflash xposed?

I have updated multiple times by flashing everything, except cache and userdata, but was wondering if there is a faster way around it so i don't have to reinstall TWRP and reflash supersu...
